About LCM Group

Excellence in financial stewardship is the firm’s focus and passion

Who We Are

LCM Group is a privately-owned, diversified investment management company and family office with strong focus and significant expertise in alternative asset investing. Founded in 1988, LCM Group has over 30 years of successful operating and investment history.

A truly “opportunistic” investment mandate leads the LCM team to pursue attractive risk-adjusted returns, across asset classes and investment cycles, in the spirit of excellent stewardship and a motivation to see human flourishing take root for our partners and portfolio company stakeholders.

We are passionate, faithful stewards of God’s resources.

What We Do

LCM seeks to invest its principals’ capital into compelling opportunities in private and public markets.  We’re focused on growing a diverse investment portfolio intent on earning attractive returns without exposing ourselves to undue risk in any single company, sector, or asset class. This allows LCM a sufficient amount of flexibility in adapting to various market conditions.

LCM invests with a long-term time horizon in mind and a willingness to accept reasonable illiquidity in exchange for higher expected returns. We prefer direct investments and co-investments over traditional commingled private fund structures.

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

1 Peter 4:10

Our History

LCM Group was founded by D. Scott Luttrell in 1988 with a focus on emerging alternative asset opportunities. LCM has always been dedicated to identifying, diligencing, and capturing attractive risk-adjusted investment opportunities as a steward of its resources.

In the late 1970s, Mr. Luttrell began his investment career as an independent trader and Member at the Chicago Board of Trade, trading financial futures. In April 1988, Mr. Luttrell launched his first hedge fund, the Everest Fund LP, an absolute return-oriented fund focused on global interest rate and foreign exchange markets. LCM Group commenced operations as the General Partner to the Everest Fund while also serving as a consultant to Caxton Corporation, a New York-based diversified investment firm.

In 1991, after several years of extraordinary investment performance, Mr. Luttrell merged LCM’s hedge fund trading activities with Caxton. At Caxton, Mr. Luttrell led the firm’s global fixed income group and served as a senior member of the firm’s portfolio risk management group. During Mr. Luttrell’s time of service at Caxton the firm grew to become one of the largest hedge fund management companies in the world.

In 2000, Mr. Luttrell retired from Caxton to turn his energy towards developing his family office - managing his own family's capital and philanthropic interests. Investment activities of the family office focused on allocations to hedge funds, direct private equity, private debt, real estate opportunities, and proprietary trading of fixed income, foreign exchange, and public equities.

In 2004, several institutional investors approached LCM requesting that the firm provide alternative asset consulting services and structured alternative asset strategies managed by LCM. Alongside the operations of the Luttrell family office, a subsidiary, LCM Global Partners LLC, successfully managed those niche-strategy hedge funds strategies until it wound down by the end of 2015.

Since 2016, LCM Group has rededicated its team’s efforts to focus on the investment and philanthropic activities of the Luttrell family, focusing primarily on direct private equity, private debt, real estate, private equity secondaries, and public equities to continue growing a capital base that predominantly funds Christian ministries.

In 2024, LCM Group entered its second generation of leadership with David Luttrell taking the helm as Chief Executive. The firm continues its pursuit of being a world-class single-family office in support of the Luttrell family's investment and philanthropic goals.
